Military equipment used during the Nazi German invasion and occupation of Norway in World War 2: Studded leather uniform boots for a Gebirgsjäger, a soldier in the mountain units of the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer). Beginning in 1940 the Army ceased issuing jackboots to rear-area personnel and authorized the wearing of the ankle-height work utility boots (Schnürschuhe, “”lace-up shoes””) with the field uniform. From 1941 Schnürschuhe were authorized for combat units as well, and the only footgear issued to new recruits; by 1943 their wear had become universal.
